Reclaimed woodReclaimed wood is timber that has been removed from its original application and repurposed. In our case we repurpose the wood to make beautiful and timeless bespoke handmade furniture.

Each individual plank of wood is sourced from local reclamation experts who obtain the timber from many different places, such as old buildings or from industrial usage. Therefore cracks, scuffs, open grain, old nail holes, saw marks, hammer indents, historic paint and rust traces are a common characteristic from in the wood.

Our job here at The Bespoke Carpentry Co. is to take the history immersed timber and give it a new lease of life. We do this by sanding and re-staining it, as we turn it into a bespoke piece of furniture, made just for you!

Therefore, each single piece of our reclaimed wood furniture is completely unique and individual in almost every aspect, since its stain, texture and grain will vary across each individual piece of wood that is used.

What Can You Expect From Your Reclaimed Wood Furniture?

Reclaimed wood furniture

Here at The Bespoke Carpentry Co. all our handmade furniture is made from genuine reclaimed wood. Each piece of wood is carefully hand selected for its imperfect appearance, with some of our pieces even being 100 years old.

Our reclaimed wood furniture is designed to emphasise the quality and unique beauty of each piece of wood, which by nature is rustic and imperfect. Unevenness and small dents in the wood are to be expected. And as the reclaimed wood adjusts to the conditions in your home it can create slight movement in the wood.

However, this is not considered a fault in any way, it’s simply the furniture making itself at home. Just like a sofa holds its shape to your body, making it more comfortable and really a part of your home, our handmade furniture does the same.

The Colour of Your Bespoke Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Finally, let’s talk about the colour of your new furniture. All photos of our handmade furniture that can be found across our website and social media, including our stain guide, are simply an indication of the colour you can expect your furniture to be. The exact colour of your furniture will always vary from piece to piece, as all wood will take stain in its own unique way. However, this simply adds to the charm of our bespoke furniture.

If you wish to match the finish of a product you’ve previously ordered from us or that you already have in your home, please feel free to get in touch and we will do our very best to match it to a similar shade within our range, as long as you can provide us with a photo.

Unwanted Marks or Details in Your Reclaimed Wood Furniture?

Not to worry! In the unlikely event you find the character marks or a particular detail in the reclaimed wood that is not to your liking, this is usually easily fixed with one of our Reclaimed Wood Maintenance Kits. These marks and details are often easily removed with some extra sanding or staining in a particular spot.

In any case, if you’d like some assistance with a particular mark or detail you’re unhappy with, please always feel free to send us an email at info@thebespokecarpentryco.com with some photos of the area and our team will be more than happy to help.

Our biggest goal is for you to love your new piece of bespoke furniture as much as we do and to cherish it for many years to come. That is the beauty of working with reclaimed wood.
